Series: The Jesus Way

What does it mean to follow Jesus? The Jesus Way looks at how Jesus made disciples and invites us to live the same way. Starting with His call to the first fishermen and His Great Commission, the series traces a path from the crowd to a life that multiplies: engaging with Jesus, connecting to Him as the true vine, growing in Him, and sending others out to make disciples. Being a Christian means being a disciple, and this series shows what that looks like in everyday life.

Jesus’ call to the first fishermen in Matthew 4 shows why every Christian needs discipleship. Being a Christian is being a disciple, and the command “Come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” reveals that Jesus commands discipleship, empowers it, and offers through it the fulfilled life that full nets could never give. Following Him also pushes disciples outward to help others who are hungry for Christ.

    • Being a Christian is being a disciple; the New Testament uses ‘disciple’ far more than ‘Christian.’
    • We need discipleship because Jesus commands it, leaving no menu of options.
    • We need discipleship because Jesus empowers it; He makes us what He calls us to be.
    • Discipleship is the key to a fulfilled life that worldly success cannot provide.
    • Following Jesus pushes disciples toward others who are hungry for Him.
